giomm being there
Ten days ago Murray released glibmm 2.16. Ok, this post comes a bit late, but the purpose is anyway, as I blogged about the humble beginnings some months ago, mostly just to mention that the work on an API/ABI stable giomm has been completed.
Some of the things which you can do with it include:
- getting all kinds of file and file system information
- file monitoring
- asynchronous and synchronous transfers
- quering desktop application info
- icon handling
- doing I/O with streams
- getting information about present drives and volumes
- monitoring volumes for (un)mounts and drive connections
It’s been a lot of work, and it would’ve been hard for just one person to do it well enough and finish in free time – so I thank Murray Cumming, Jonathon Jongsma and José Alburquerque for cooperation and completing the API and documentation.
